A delegation of foreign consular officers from Macao and Hong Kong paid a visit to Xiamen city on Oct 19-20.

During the visit they expressed their expectation of deepening cooperation with the city.

The event was organized by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Macao Special Administrative Region – and the delegation was led by its deputy commissioner, Sun Xiangyang.

The delegation consists of over 20 consular officials from 15 countries – including Mozambique, Nepal, Belarus and Colombia.

"Xiamen now is making every effort to build a hub city that facilitates both domestic and international circulation," said Zhuang Rongliang, vice-mayor of Xiamen.

Zhuang added that the city hoped to take this opportunity to further promote friendly exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao. He said it also wanted to expand exchanges internationally.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Sun Xiangyang said the visit served as a bridge to promote in-depth cooperation between Xiamen and Macao and Hong Kong. It also served as a bridge with countries involved in the BRI.

During the visit, the delegation visited the Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries, Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd, Yealink Inc and other places.
