Kong Suting, deputy director general of the Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office, met with Luis Guimaraes, president of the China-Brazil Mining Association, and his delegation on April 3.

Kong said that Xiamen was speeding up the construction of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center, and promoting pragmatic cooperation among BRICS nations as well as other countries.

She added that Brazil, as one of the world's leading emerging markets and biggest developing countries in the Western Hemisphere, had complementary industries, strong trade growth and broad cooperation prospects with Xiamen.

Furthermore, Kong said that Xiamen was willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Brazil in a broad range of fields.

Guimaraes thanked the Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office for its previous matchmaking initiatives – and for providing opportunities for the association to participate in the construction of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center. He added that his association would promote the landing of the BRICS Mining Forum in Xiamen.

He also called on the foreign affairs office to assist in inviting more Chinese businesses to visit Brazil and for the joint promotion of commerce and trade between Brazil and Xiamen.
